Wireless Access Points (WAP) allow wireless devices such as laptops, desktop PCs, tablet PCs, printers and network attached storage (NAS) to connect to a wired network using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The wireless access point connects to a wired router and then relays the data between the wireless and wired devices through the network. Access points are particularly useful to large businesses and organisations that need to connect additional desktop PCs or laptops to a network without the need for addtional cabling. Many WAP devices also offer additional features such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, making installation easy and reducing maintenance costs.
