Internet routers are available either as wired or wireless devices.
Wireless routers, also referred to as WLAN routers, perform the function of a router, as well as a wireless access point and network switch providing wireless internet access to wireless enabled devices such as computers, laptops, tablets and gaming consoles. ADSL wireless routers connect to your regular broadband whilst DSL wireless routers are used to connect a computer to a Digital Subscriber Line, such as Virgin. Wireless routers supporting 802.11g offer speeds up to 54Mbps whilst 802.11n is becoming the standard with speeds ranging from 150 to 900Mbps.
