MISCO – Extended Warranty Plan
Definitions:-
You/Your/Purchaser: - The policyholder and insured party as purchaser of this extended warranty plan
(this ‘Policy’).
Our/We/Us: - AIG UK Limited.
Claims
Administrator: - Warranty Company of Europe Ltd, Manchester Business Park, 3000 Aviator Way,
Manchester. M22 5TG. Telephone 0808 2347133.
Breakdown:- The mechanical or electrical failure of Your Covered Product whilst in ordinary domestic
or personal use arising from electrical or mechanical defects in the Covered Product preventing normal
usage and / or operation.
Covered Product: - The product that You have purchased through Misco and for which You have
purchased this Policy, as evidenced by Your sales receipt together with Your certificate of cover.
Period of Cover: - The insurance cover provided under this Policy commences upon expiry of the
manufacturer’s guarantee relating to the Covered Product and will end on the expiry date shown on
Your certificate of cover.
This extended warranty plan is underwritten by:-
AIG UK Limited.
What is covered by this Policy:-
We will replace the Covered Product following a Breakdown occurring during the Period of Cover. In
the event that We replace the Covered Product, We will endeavour to provide a replacement product
identical to the Covered Product. However, should the original model no longer be available from
Misco, We will at our sole option replace the Covered Product with one of similar specification which
shall not exceed the original purchase price of the Covered Product.
What is not covered by this Policy:-
- Replacement of Your Covered Product where in Our sole opinion no fault is found with the
Covered Product.
- Breakdown of the Covered Product that is caused by accidental damage or an accidental event.
- The cost of materials and labour charges where the manufacturer or supplier is responsible for
the Covered Product under the terms of any existing guarantee.
- Breakdown due to non-domestic use, wilful act, neglect or misuse of the Covered Product; use of
accessories not approved by the manufacturer; software or computer programming; loss of
external power supply, fire, lightning, explosion, flood or other causes external to the Covered
Product.
- Damage to the Covered Product of a cosmetic nature including but not limited to scratching,
denting, chipping, trim faults, fading and rusting.
- Any costs associated with the Covered Product being recalled by the manufacturer or any other
supplier for any reason.
- Costs incurred in replacing consumable items including but not limited to print-heads, batteries,
styli, fuses, light bulbs, vacuum cleaner bags, belts, brushes, tools and accessories.
- Compensation for loss of use of the Covered Product or any indirect or consequential loss of any
kind including but not limited to the recovering or replacing any computer software, stored data,
virus prevention/detection or external accessories.
General conditions:-
- This Policy is limited to Covered Products purchased by residents domiciled in the United
Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
- This policy shall be governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the
English courts.
- Purchasing this Policy does not limit Your protection under any applicable manufacturer's
guarantee, nor does it affect Your statutory rights.
- Please retain the original sales receipt and details of the manufacturer’s guarantee or warranty for
the Covered Product as these will be required in the event that You need to make a claim under
this Policy.
- You may be required to present proof of purchase of this Policy and You may be required to ship
the defective Covered Product, at Your expense, to a designated location for inspection.
- This Policy is for Your benefit and any permitted transferee subject to Our prior written
permission. No rights or benefits shall accrue to any other third party under this Policy. The
provisions of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 will not apply to this Policy.
- This Policy will terminate without prior notice if in Our sole opinion You attempt a fraudulent claim
under this Policy.
- You must adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions and take all due care and reasonable
precautions to prevent damage to the Covered Product.
- This Policy terminates without prior notice immediately upon replacement of the Covered Product.
- Either You or We may cancel this Policy by giving notice within 45 days of You purchasing this
Policy and, provided you have not made a claim, You will receive a full refund of the premium
paid. Either You or We may cancel this Policy after 45 days of purchase and You will receive a
pro-rata return of the premium paid with reference to the number of unexpired days calculated
from the date of purchase of this Policy. All Policy cancellation and premium refund requests
should be made to the Administrator who will validate Your request and arrange with Misco to
settle any refund direct to You on Our behalf.
- In paying the premium for this Policy, You agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this
Policy.
- In the event that the Covered Product is replaced, the Covered Product may at Our sole option
become Our property.
Data Protection Act 1998:-
Any information that We may receive from You will be held and processed in compliance with the
provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and such information may be provided to third parties for
the purpose of providing insurance and handling claims.
Claims procedure:-
1. In the event of a Breakdown during the Period of Cover, simply call the Administrator’s claims
helpline on 0808 2347133.
2. You may be required to present proof of purchase of the Covered Product and this Policy, and You
may be required to ship the defective Covered Product, at Your expense, to a designated location
for inspection by the Administrator. If upon inspection the Covered Product fails to qualify for
replacement, it will be returned to You.
Complaints procedure:-
We always aim to provide a first class service. However, if You have any complaint You should write to: The Extended Warranty Department, AIG UK Limited, 2-8 Altyre
Road, Croydon CR9 2LG.
If You are not satisfied with Our response to Your complaint You can contact: - Financial Ombudsman
Service, South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London, E14 9SR.
This complaints procedure does not affect any legal right You may have to take action against Us.

This insurance is underwritten by AIG UK Limited which is authorised and regulated
by the Financial Services Authority (FSA number 202628). This information can be checked by visiting the FSA website

In the event of Our insolvency, We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme
(FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if We cannot meet Our obligations.
This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Most insurance contracts are
covered for 100% of the first £2000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim. Further information is
available from the FSCS.
