Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced on Monday the launch of HP Big Data Discovery Experience, an information management and analytics (IM&A) platform aimed at helping customers make the most of their Big Data assets.
HP said that its new service did not require an initial investment in hardware, software and skilled personnel. The HP Big Data Discovery Experience provides clients with a solution that supports their efforts to find new revenue opportunities, bolster efficiency, minimise risk and reduce costs. The platform makes it faster and easier to realise the potential of corporate information. HP Big Data Discovery Experience offers a scalable ecosystem, providing customers with the means to explore various technologies so as to act on insights gained from their data.
HP stated that the service was now available in the Americas and selected European countries, with pricing determined by customer engagement. The company expects the service to be available globally by the end of 2013.
HP noted that business leaders were well aware of how important it was to be in control of the variety, speed and volume of information. However, many executives believe that their companies are ill-equipped to cope with the associated challenges. A global HP-sponsored study has shown that over 50% of company executives see their organisations as lacking the right tools to obtain insights from Big Data. Moreover, enterprises do not have the required expertise or the cohesive strategy to unite all components for the purpose of fusing old and new data sets. Being able to gain greater insights allows businesses to act, improving and transforming their operations as a result, HP added.
