IBM is enhancing its rack and tower servers’ offerings with the introduction of new x86 servers. Now joining IBM’s System x portfolio, the x86 servers can support Microsoft Windows, Linux and virtualisation. The new x86 systems—which include the IBM System x3650 M4, the IBM System x3550 M4, and IBM Systemx3500 M4—are designed to improve enterprise computing through increased scalability, enhanced performance, lower cost, and simplified deployment. After the successful deployment of its online software service Office 365, Microsoft announced a price reduction of up to 20% on its Office 365 for enterprise plans. The software manufacturer attributed this pricing change to economies of scale derived from the growth of its cloud customer-base now spanning 64 countries worldwide. The much awaited Windows 8 user interface is now in available in beta stage. The all-new touch interface introduces new and improved features, including remote accessibility, greater scalability across computer devices, secure and easy-to-manage intelligent infrastructure, and an immersive web browsing experience.
