ISO 14001 Certification

Misco has always been environmentally aware and we have been awarded the ISO 14001 accreditation which is in recognition of our dedication to reducing our environmental impact.

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for the environmental management of businesses. It was published in 1996 and is designed to help organisations put in place the necessary structures to ensure that their operations comply with environmental laws and that major environmental risks and liabilities are properly identified, minimised and managed.

As part of this accreditation our Senior management team have created our Environmental Management System (EMS) including our environmental policy and embarked on a long term plan of setting objectives to help us improve our environmental impact. These are just some of the areas that we are working on:

• We have committed to improving our recycling facilities in the offices and our warehouse operation; we are working towards getting 55% of our total waste recycled.
• Reducing our electricity usage, An extensive” Switch it Off “ campaign has been run across all sites and a full site audit by the Carbon Trust has identified other areas that can be improved.
• We are introducing initiatives throughout the company to encourage our employees to review their methods of getting to work and conducting a survey to identify further opportunities of reducing travel.
