WEEE Policy
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) & Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directives.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) is an EU initiative to protect the environment by reducing the amount of electrical equipment including PCs, servers, printers, laptops and other electrical products going into landfill sites. Please click here for more details of products that are included in the WEEE Directive. The WEEE Directive is introduced on 1st July 2007 – WEEE Day. Misco will undertake their responsibility as both a Producer and a Distributor to dispose of these goods in line with European legislation. Misco will work with our customers who request assistance with treatment, recovery, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of any IT products. Business Customers (Non Household)
Disposal of item(s) is determined by the manufacturer of the specific product and falls under ‘Producer Responsibility’ or ‘Distributor Responsibility’. Producer Responsibility Misco undertake responsibility for the following brands:
- Wintergreen
- Systemax
- Misco Saver
- Qlty
- Ultra
Please click here for details on recycling the brands listed above. Distributor Responsibility For all other brands that Misco supply we undertake our obligations as a distributor. Misco are not obligated to provide any schemes for the disposal of business WEEE, as the Producer is responsible for the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal. Consumers Part of Misco’s obligation as a distributor is to offer a take back scheme and we have partnered with Valpak to fulfill these obligations for Misco and the disposal of WEEE. The RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive, also known as EU Directive 2002/95/EG, went into affect on July 1st, 2006 in Europe. The RoHS directive mandates that electrical and electronic products put into the European market within EU states shall contain restrictive levels of the following substances:
- Lead (Pb)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
Misco is fully committed to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the RoHS Directive which restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products.
