What is Connect the Classroom?
Connect the Classroom is a Department for Education (DfE) initiative that helps eligible schools improve their wireless infrastructure through government funding. The programme aims to ensure schools have reliable, secure connectivity capable of supporting cloud applications, online learning, staff devices and growing numbers of connected pupils.
Projects are designed to bring school networks in line with the DfE's published digital and technology standards, creating a more resilient foundation for teaching, learning and day-to-day operations.

Funding Overview
Eligible schools receive government funding to upgrade their wireless infrastructure where existing networks no longer meet Department for Education standards. Funding is intended to remove the financial barriers to improving connectivity, allowing schools to modernise their network without placing additional pressure on budgets. Projects typically include the design, supply and installation of compliant networking equipment required to deliver reliable, secure wireless access throughout the school. Schools remain responsible for procuring an appropriate supplier and delivering the project in accordance with DfE guidance.
Who is Eligible?
Eligibility is determined by the Department for Education.
Schools currently receiving targeted intervention through the Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) programme may qualify for Connect the Classroom funding. The DfE may also contact additional schools whose existing wireless infrastructure falls below its published connectivity standards. Eligible schools are contacted directly by the Department for Education.
