Revolutionising Workforce Productivity with HP EliteBook Ultra and the Power of Intel® Core™ Ultra 7

About customer

Misco is a trusted technology partner within the UK IT channel, dedicated to empowering organisations through modern IT solutions and expert guidance. Serving businesses across multiple sectors, Misco helps customers modernise their technology infrastructure, embrace digital transformation, and harness the power of AI to enhance operational efficiency. Recognising the gap between AI hype and practical readiness, Misco launched an internal initiative to demonstrate the real-world impact of AI-ready computing bridging strategy, hardware, and user enablement.

Challenge

While AI dominates the business conversation, many UK organisations remain uncertain about how to apply it effectively. Within Misco, employees across Sales, Commercial Business Management, HR, and Finance described labour-intensive processes—heavy spreadsheets, repetitive tasks, and complex document management—that slowed productivity. Despite the hype, most “struggled to see the practical applications… although there has been a lot of noise around it.” The company’s challenge was to identify the necessary technology capable of handling real-world AI workloads securely and efficiently. Beyond software adoption, Misco aimed to demonstrate how advanced, AI-optimised devices could facilitate faster decision-making, enhance content generation, and reduce IT overhead.

Overview

Misco launched an internal AI Productivity Pilot, equipping selected business leaders with HP EliteBook Ultra G1i 14” notebooks powered by the Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor. The objective was to measure how AI-enabled PCs could transform everyday workflows and deliver tangible ROI. The Intel Core Ultra 7’s hybrid architecture, combining CPU, GPU, and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivers local AI acceleration, enabling Copilot and other tools to run seamlessly on-device. This configuration improved responsiveness, enhanced security, and extended battery life. HP’s Wolf Pro Security added robust protection, while Westcoast Cloud provided Microsoft Copilot licences and tailored training to build prompt engineering skills and user confidence.

As one participant explained: “The most significant learning curve for me was understanding how to prompt correctly… it’s all about asking Copilot the right questions.” Within days, employees began to see results: “The moment it clicked for me was when I started to really understand the power of Copilot… it really resonated in terms of the speed at which my productivity could change.

Solutions

HP & Intel:

HP provided the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i, a designated Next Gen AI Business Laptop powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and built on the Intel vPro® platform. This platform supports distributed AI processing across CPU, GPU, and NPU, enabling advanced on-device AI capabilities for creative, analytical, and administrative workloads.

According to Forrester Consulting’s “Total Economic Impact™ of the Intel vPro Platform” (2024), the Intel vPro platform delivers up to 213% ROI over three years and achieves up to a 90% reduction in hardware-related on-site visits – helping IT teams become more efficient and proactive.

Westcoast Cloud (Solutions Partner):

Westcoast Cloud provided Copilot enablement and user training, helping employees move beyond curiosity to confident use. The sessions focused on the “art” of interacting with AI tools, maximising value through precise prompting and applied use cases across applications such as Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Misco (Customer):

Misco integrated AI as part of its modern workplace strategy, emphasising that success comes from combining people, process, and technology. As one participant reflected: “Before I was trained, I struggled to see the practical applications… After the training, it’s pretty much revolutionised what I’m doing. It’s like having a work colleague with a fantastic memory that can go back and find all the things I was working on previously.”

Outcome

Outcome 1: Tangible Productivity Gains and Time Savings

Participants reported saving up to 25% of their working week, with repetitive or administrative tasks completed “within 30 seconds.” These gains highlight the performance advantage of on-device AI acceleration through the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and vPro architecture.

“Activities…that would normally take me a very long time, I can now do within 30 seconds.”
– Kerry O’Halloran, Bids and Framework Manager, Misco

“It’s revolutionised how I work… it’s like having a work colleague who can instantly recall everything I’ve done before.”
– Lee Dutton, UK Sales Director, Misco

Outcome 2: Enhanced Content Creation and Compliance Efficiency

Copilot transformed content-heavy processes—from tender creation to compliance reporting. One user noted: “The app I used the most is the notebooks feature… it can pull all the documents together for compliance elements in my role, and I can then draw from different documents to bring everything into one place.” Others found creative uses, integrating Copilot directly into SharePoint to “build all the little sections for employee communications.”

“I was most excited about not having to double check, recheck, triple check things… it was giving me more time back during my working day to do more duties.”
– Lee Porteous, HR Director, Misco

“For me, it was…how the data security works. It’s a level above what else is out there.”
– Nathan Dorrington, Operations Director, Misco

Outcome 3: Greater Strategic Focus and Reduced IT Overhead

AI PCs empowered teams to redirect their time from administrative checks to strategic, high-value work. In contrast, IT teams benefitted from reduced servicing demands—mirroring the up to 90% drop in on-site visits identified in Intel’s global study.

“When you learn how to engage with it properly, I think you’ll find it very difficult to go back.”
– Nathan Dorrington, Operations Director, Misco
